Soft launching into 2026.
Hei 2026! I’m starting the year by catching up on things left unfinished at the end of 2025. One of them is this little Journal post, which I drafted and hoped to publish in December… It’s about a project that is still very much in-progress… So, here are a few updated words about what’s been occupying my time: my new studio space and its digital home.
Continuing from my previous post, reconnecting with my creative practice also meant finding the right “space” and a fitting way to frame it. More than just a physical studio, I needed a fresh mental framework, a place to explore design, illustration, and textile techniques while being playful and experimental in my approach.
I named this space Yellow Daisies, an expression I found while looking through old film photos in family albums. It’s a name rooted in personal meaning, inspired by family bonds and the joy of handmade things. With this concept I wish to honour a family legacy; while daisy suggests playfulness and imagination, it’s also mine, and my mom’s middle name — in Portuguese, Margarida.
Just as I haven’t actively freelanced for the past few years, I haven’t had an updated website for roughly the same amount of time. But, even while working full-time, I’ve realised how important it is to have my own room for projects, my point of view, my own expression and creativity. Although this new home is still a bit empty, I decided to share it anyway… there’s an address and sign already, so why not?

Just like a store front that’s still closed, but moving inside: there are a few boxes where I’ve been organising some of my favourite tools: pens, pencils, craft supplies, bundles of coloured paper and vintage fabrics. I’ll organise it better and add more “shelves” over time as I continue the ongoing (never-finished) process of building a website.
I have many ideas and plans for the future. As for the studio practice, there are no fixed working hours yet, especially as the end of year approaches and I travel back home for the holidays, I’ve been organising my daily hours, so I can feel productive, but not overwhelmed.
In the meantime, there’s a working email. So, if you’d like to say hi, ask a question, or if you have a project or idea for 2026 that you think I could contribute to, feel free to reach out: sara@yellowdaisies.studio
